Okay, so this week was quite the
"show"....So about a month and a half ago my feet started hurting
really bad; I just thought it was because they were tired from the hills and
such. On Thursday I kind of had it with the pain so I called Hermana Garcia and
we went to the hospital to see what was going on. Long story short, they told
me I had a fracture and that there is an 80% chance that I broke my foot. Not
gonna lie, I had a bit of a freak-out when he said that. They took x-rays and
all that good stuff, but they never even touched my foot. They said I have to
talk to a specialist to see what I have to do next. They told me they would
call me when the person had time. So then they never called, so the next
morning they told me that I could talk with the person in the next two weeks. I
thought they were crazy and so I called Hermana Garcia and she told me that I
needed to go to the hospital in Mérida on Monday so we could see what they
could do. First of all, I had no confidence in those doctors here in Campeche
and second, I didn’t think I broke it because I could still walk. So before you
all freak out, we went to Mérida to the hospital there and they took x-rays and
they said that I didn’t have a fracture and that my foot wasn’t broken. I just
have inflammation in my tendons. So for this week, I can’t walk long distances
and just around the house. I should be better within a week or two. It just got
bad because I was talking on my feet for a month and a half still. But I have
learned my lesson.
So yesterday President was
with us almost the whole day. He had an appointment too and so he bought the medicine,
and they told me that I had to buy new shoes that were better, so he took us to
the mall to buy shoes. Yes, I went shoe shopping with the president. It was super weird, then we ate at Subway,
then he had another appointment so we waited in the car for a good hour. It was
quite the day yesterday. We got back late last night to Campeche so that’s why I
didn’t write yesterday!
On Friday and Saturday we weren’t
able to do a lot of work because they said I couldn’t. We missed some people, but we have lots of
help from members, so this is great. With having a week like we did we had
pretty good success in the church. We had 3 of our investigators in the church. That might sound like not that many, but it
was really great for us!
I was really freaked out that they
were going to send me home early or something like that after we talked to the
first doctor and it made me realize how much I really do value the time I have
here on my mission. I love this area and the people and the LAST thing I would
ever want to do is leave this mission early. I really am trying to enjoy my
time to the fullest! I love this work and I love the Lord! I am grateful for
the members that have been helping us! I am not allowed to walk a lot this
week, but the members are already helping us lots!
Don’t worry about me or anything I
know that this was quite the blessing that I didn’t have anything worse with my
foot! I know that the Lord is looking out for all of the missionaries and I am
so grateful to be one at this time! I love you all and hope you have a great
week!
Love, Hermana Velasquez
